Shortly after my top 5 ( wayback 2005 ) top 6-10 songs follows almost the same time coz my brother downloaded all these songs year 2005 (that’s what he do most of the time when stuck here in Pinas): - I know, it’s so yesterday but heck!I’ll still post it now (2007) to complete the top top 10 & here they are:

6. Beach Samba - Astrud Gilberto
7. Adam’s Hotel - Deodato
8. Angelea - Bob James
9. The Sweetest Taboo - Sade
10. several songs are vying for no. 10 - Down in Brazil by Michael Franks, Sneaking Out The Door by Matt Bianco, Take Five by Al Jarreau,Feels So Good by Chuck Mangione, It Never Entered My Mind by Miles David, Boy from New York City by Manhattan Transfer & a “teen” more songs to follow. . .

Okay, that’s top 15.

Year 2006 was very 80’s for me — I only knew a couple of new songs last year which I really know by heart. Did I say Beyounce’s Irreplaceable was one of ‘em? i love it!

Sing any 80’s song & I will sing it with you.

Swear, I can listen to 80’s music sunrise to sundown.

Twas the hit of Bossa Nova too … mixture 0f 80’s & jazzambossanova best describe my 2006 music.

2007 — I have my old soul still .. I started the year with Videoke songs hahahaha! Buses & Trains ( a favorite in my fam), Tattoed on my Mind ( another bossa nova), Neocolours’ Hold On (another 80’s)

There’s Music & Lyrics Soundtrack which the fondness I shared with my sister.

There’s my daughter’s new itunes folder which my daughter influenced me with Cartoons live By Chris Rice (aahh! really cool upbeat wholesome fun song) & Shakira’s Hips Don’t Lie

The year is just starting & I am really rockin’ rollin’ excited with what’s gonna hit my eardrum for the months to come.

I AM A CHRISTIAN
Maya Angelou

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I’m not shouting “I’m clean livin’.”
I’m whispering “I was lost,”
Now I’m found and forgiven.

When I say…”I am a Christian”
I don’t speak of this with pride.
I’m confessing that I stumble
and need CHRIST to be my guide.

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I’m not trying to be strong.
I’m professing that I was weak
and need HIS strength to carry on.

When I say.. “I am a Christian”
I’m not bragging of success.
I’m admitting I have failed
and need God to clean my mess.

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I’m not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
but, God believes I’m worth it.

When I say.. “I am a Christian”
I still feel the sting of pain;
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I’m not holier than thou,
I’m just a simple sinner
who received God’s good grace, somehow.

It’s 12:21 am & I just couldn’t sleep with a heavy heart — see my recent post “Lean on HIM” & at the same time I also couldn’t sleep if I haven’t let it all out — for the sake of R-E-L-I-E-F… I have nobody to talk to — ‘m the only one awake in this roof & my blog is the perfect venue to release all these…

To start of, ’twas our 1st Q PTC (for my single/no child friends it’s Parent Teacher Conference) this morning. As always, I was nervous & excited to see the report card of my daughter. She is a consistent honor student — one of the top students in their class and in her grade level.I had a great time listenin’ to her adviser as she started pointin’ out the positive traits of Czeskah & how well she excel both in academic & non academic. — ah well, except for being talkative hehehe - she always have a story to tell, opinions to share etc accdg to her adviser… Aside from that, it was all positive … all praises for my little girl. Her average for this quarter is 96+ (sad to say or ironically,Filipino & Sibika are the lowest or the not so high grades considering the fact that my daughter is 101% pinoy…) — I’m always one of those parents who wears a very big smile walking down the hallway every after quarterly PTC.

I think I will always wear that big smile even if her standing is not like that… even if she doesn’t belong to the achievers circle…even if her grades aren’t that high because I know she is doing her very best every step of the way & what really really matters most is the foundation of the Christian education that instill in every gcf-ics student.

A simple Shrek bucket meal treat @ KFC follows.

After lunch, we headed Almira’s place (Yes, Almira Muhlach-Alvarez - she’s very simple, very nice, a good friend -church mate, fellow mom who happens to have an extra-ordinary brother –who else? Aga Muhlach) — d kids enjoy swimming with their classmates ( i took video for a couple of minutes), chit chatting, eating spaghetti & ice cream, playing with the Alvarez sisters Bratz collection — my oh! my! a Bratz department store is in the house! D kids would really enjoy. While Almira’s introducing a network business to us –( personally, it’s not my thing but my dad & my mom are into networking business before.) We dropped by Hyeprmart too. twas a stress-free day!

** We had our family day last Sept 9 - a lot of families from grade 3 are in our team, Orange team - the Alvarez family, dela Paz family, Biscocho, family,Tiu-Laurel family, Ty family, Baguio family & of course Munoz family!

Out of six teams our team landed 3rd as announced in the cheering competition but awarded 2nd during the awarding(?)
I did all the cheers for our team. Leaded our team with the help of fellow moms.A night before family day, Czeskah & I went to Fabric Warehouse & I bought orange cloth for all of us to use — fr waving, raising hands, cheering etc.– before sleeping I printed 35 copies of our cheeers — good thing,we have a 20 minute time allocation for cheering practice prior to the competition coz we never practice yet at all. — here’s the catch, so, I’m the only one in our team who knows the cheer — meaning i’ll be cheer leader — i should be there during the 20 minute grace period but oh! no I also have another job to do. I was one of the in charge for the Registration of everybody coming.

As I was doin’ my duty in the registration booth — signin’ of attendance, writing their name for our name tags etc half of my mind is floating — thinkin’ ’bout our team –no cheers yet…ten mins before 8am i asked permission from our reg. head Marie that I’ll put my stuff in our team’s place –there I rushed distributing the cheers, delegate the distribution of the orange cloth & started teaching pool of parents that are so game & can easily pick up the tune — Thank God! — Thanks to our kids Illa & patricia who did the cartwheel. It looks like we practiced several tmes already. Thank God!

** My newly added role, a Sunday school teacher — it’s been 2 months now since I started as a Sunday School teacher in GCF - Greenhills Christian Fellowship. I NEVER NEVER imagine myself teaching at all but the Lord leads me to this path.
I started teaching for class age 5, 9am service ( now, 830am service) then now, I am handling age 4 830am sunday service, I attend the 11am service after I teach.
It’s a totally different feeling teaching d kids about GOD. I am not an expert to this but one doesn’t have to be — as long as you feel you have the calling to teach –go on. you’ll never know you’re next in line.

Cassy can now attend sunday (age 3) school alone without yaya in her class. She loves singing “read your bible” & walking -walking” & enjoys coloring & showin’ off her stamp star in her hand to Mommy Abhele Sunday after Sunday.. While last month, election day, Ate Czeskah was elected Class President in her Sunday School.

** Last year, I was the Parent Rep for grade 2 level. This SY 2006-07 I was appointed grade 3 Parent Representative again. Being active in everything I do comes out naturally basically because I love being involved in my kids life.I usually organized family get togethers of Czeskah’s close friends

** Growing more spiritually means gaining more Christian Moms circle of friends too since I belong now to MOMS fellowship ( for those who wants to join us –we meet every wednesday 9-12 GCF Social Hall) - I couldn’t make it every wednesday though if there are mtngs/client calls but since I manage my sked as much as possible I don’t schedule a wed. morning appointmnent. The rest of the days including wednesday afternoons are for my family, work etc. Really it’s all time management - I have to say this & remind myself too.

** My kids do watch esp Cassy playhouse disney every single day.

** I have an efficient, organized, trusted yaya.

** I have my daddy to drive me & my kids everyday to wherever destination.

** I have my mama to do the general cleaning in my place

** I have my kuya who sponsored techy gadgets & if in Pinas helps me control unnecessary expenses & cooks yummy food

** I have my sister who supports me all the way in everything that I do.

** I have Rey as my mentor for free

** I have few regular clients

** I have relatives to share special occasions with

** I have trusted & loyal friends around me

** I have JESUS in my life

Really, more reasons to be H-A-P-P-Y!

Memory Verse: For I Know the plans I have for you, plan to prosper you & not to harm you, plans to give you hope & a future. Jeremiah 29:11

Lean on HIM . . .

September 15th, 2006 by abhele

It’s already ber month — I usually start my Christmas shopping come September - thanks to the big space under my bed, the orocans & the book shelves (or should i say the stuff toys & bags shelves - i think it’s high time not to call it a book shelf since there’s not even a single book there hahaha - the baby cabinet of my eldest Czeskah with four big enough drawers is where my kids’ books are kept) — but now, I haven’t started buying any, not even a single Christmas gift item (except for the occasional bday gifts) coz at the moment budget won’t allow me to.So, enough of the personalized gold & silver etc parker pens I gave out last Christmas. Mmmmmm, I have to think of something creative - simple..inexpensive but with a class esp.for past, present & future clients (that includes the acctg. staff, secretaries, casuals,d guards etc.)

Day One of September was a frustrating day for me — I lost my SE k750i cellphone with a 256mb memory stick–oh! why me? This can’t be — ‘m a camera addict — every cutie thing MUST be documented - evr’y dance move & concert series of my kids NEEDS to be captured… any milestone of my youngest Cassy SHOULD be recorded… anythin’ I saw that catches my attention outdoors/malls etc are all a click away from my reliable & dependable two megapixel phone. NOT all the time digicam is in my bag & not all the time i bring the videocam - not in my everyday life BUT my mobile is with me 24/7 day in day out/ night & day/ sunrise sunshine / rain or shine or whatever you wanna call it…Not to mention the numbers I lost - just by merely thinkin’ of gettin’ people’s number again is indeed draining. — at least I have my Excel back up files for phone numbers though it’s not updated — only up to Dec 2004 & only phone memory stored numbers since majority of the info are stored there… So, for my friends reading this — do text me & identify yourself please :-) I retain my number since it’s a post paid/line — good thing, i got my sim replacement the ff. day i reported the incident.

What else? I get soooo sickly — on & off fever, occasional coughing, colds most of the time — my immune system is soooo down.. My energy level is soooo low… I feel soooo restless! — this is NOT me — I cannot even remember when was my last high fever? Seven yrs ago? Way way way back. I have NO history of hospital confinement (giving birth is an exception),NO major illnesses not even minor ones. — Does cauterized (warts) & dental cleaning counts?

i feel lonely.

sigh.

I’ll end with this memory verse: Trust in the Lord with all your heart & lean not on your own understanding Proverbs 3:5

I wanna share my personal favorites of  "Cooks Quotations".
Take pleasure in reading the quotes over a cup of coffee/tea & your favorite dessert….

GOOD COOKING COMES FIRST

“One cannot live well, love well or sleep well unless one has dined well.”
VIRGINIA WOOLF (1882-1941), from “A Room of One’s Own”

“ When we no longer have good cooking in the world, we will have no literature, nor high and sharp intelligence, nor friendly gatherings, nor social harmony.”
MARIE-ANTOINE CAREME

COOKING AS AN ART

“Cookery is not chemistry. It is an art. It requires instinct and taste rather
than exact measurements.”
MARCEL BOULESTIN, from “Petits et grands plats”

“Some people like to paint pictures, or do gardening, or build a boat in the basement. Other people get a tremendous pleasure out of the kitchen, because cooking is just as creative and imaginative an activity as drawing, or wood carving, or music.”
JULIA CHILD

FROM THE HEART

“ Happy and successful cooking doesn’t rely only on know-how; it comes from the heart, makes great demands on the palate and needs enthusiasm and a deep love of food to bring it to life.”
GEORGE BLANC, from “Ma Cuisine des Saisons”

“The secret of good cooking is first, having a love of it… If you’re convinced cooking is drudgery, you’re never going to be good at it, and you might as well warm up something frozen.”
JAMES BEARD

“The most indispensable ingredient of all good home cooking: love for those you are cooking for.”
SOPHIA LOREN, b. 1934

CENTRAL TO  LIFE  ITSELF

“We must eat to live and to live to eat.”
HENRY FIELDING (1707-1754)

LIFE’S GREAT PLEASURE

“A home is a place where a pot of fresh soup simmers gently on the hob, filling the kitchen with soft aromas…and filling your heart, and later your tummy, with joy.”
KEITH FLOYD

WITH APPRECIATION

“Cooking should be a carefully balanced reflection of all good things of the earth.”
JEAN AND PIERRE TROISGROS, from “The Nouvelle Cuisine of Jean and Pierre Troisgros”

Those who are one in food are one in life.
MALAGASY SAYING

THE  “MIRACLE OF BREAD”

“Bread is the warmest, kindest of words.  Write it always with a capital letter, like your own name.”
RUSSIAN CAFÉ SIGN

SPECIAL OCCASSIONS

“Everything ends this way in France – everything. Weddings, christenings, duels, funerals, swindlings, diplomatic affairs – everything is a pretext for a good dinner.”
JEAN ANOUILH (1910-1987), from “Cecile”

“Sharing food and drink is one of the oldest rituals in the world.  Whether a guest is offered a drink by the host or a special beverage in a special cup initiates an occasion, the moment is of significance.”
PAMELA VANDYKE PRICE

“Small cheer and great welcome makes a merry feast.”
WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (1564-1616)

BONDING FAMILY AND FRIENDS

“ …even those for whom cooking is an oppressive chore or a source of self-doubting anxiety, acknowledge that a meal shared by friends and family is one of the bonding rituals without which the family, society even, can fall apart,”
ANTONIA TILL, from “Loaves & Whishes”

“Dining is the privilege of civilization…. The nation which knows how to dine has learnt the leading lesson of progress.”
ISABELLA BEETON (1836-1865), from “The Book of Household Management”

THE KITCHEN – THE BEST ROOM

“…a friend…showed me the kitchen in her new home with the words, ‘This is my office.’ I knew what she meant. This is where I do the work I want to, the work I like and enjoy.”

there’s no stoppin’…

May 1st, 2006 by abhele

Dsc00602blog…blog…blog… — finally i had the  drive to do this thing again… It’s the 1st day of my favorite month — MAY and the countdown starts towards my 3Oth day… A part of me wants to stop the clock from ticking afraid of gettin’ older…afraid of reachin’ the age of 30’s… I have this connotation when somebody reaches this age one must accomplished a lot of things already in all aspects of his life and I want myself to be fulfilled and already accomplished a lot too… a whole lot.

For the past two months I’ve been fast tracking things beating the so-called deadline of reachin’ thirty. Funny but it’s true or silly but it’s true…

But there are still sooooo many things I wanna do… from the simple thing of havin’ my hair relax to venturin’ to another business (bus.expansion) and to grow more spiritually.

They say, life begins @ 40 — isn’t it forty’s too late? A child’s formation starts when it reaches age two and the toddlers’ years are crucial in developing the personality of a person…blah..blah..blah..

Basta, I’ll keep reachin’ for the stars…

Aug 01 & 21 - KFC, Roces & KFC Galleria resp. — everybody tried KFC — ‘m juz glad that after introducin’ 2 kinds of salad last yr. .. Now, they are offerin’ chicken fillet @ Php 29 only  — loaded wid real chix & d servin’ is quite big for its price.
*01-  wid my kids czes & cassy & my parents / 21 - wid czes & casssy plus melanie & kids

Sitio_podium_wid_icsAug. 05 - Sitio, Podium - d sitio pansit is loaded with meat  & lots of other sahog - worth it! For puto bumbong & bibingka lover - they serve it all year round…downside — poor service (mejo tagal)
* wid czeskah & classmates & their moms (my close friends)

Aug 06 - Kowloon , West Ave. - after all these years - their siopao is still as sulit as ever! they didnt downgrade their quality.
* take out wid dad & mama

Aug 10 - Red Ribbon, New Manila - now serving Tiramisu cake… & through the years i still find their chocolate mousse a winner.
* wid Czes & Dad

Aug 11 - Chocfull of Nuts, Greenhills - i often buy their chocolate cupcake worth Php 17 only (take-out) enjoyin’ every bite while walkin around shopesville - usually when i  buy cd-r’s –it’s "chocolatier"!
* alone

Aug 15,21,22, - Brownies Unlimited - Walnut Swirl is an all time fave, priced @ Php 16  — my coupon is almost full for a free mocha jelly …well, ‘m really not after the mocha jelly..it’s only a plus  — wid or widout that mocha jelly freebie — i drool for walnut swirl all d time…
*usually  alone - after grocery or some errands @ d mall - i’ll grab a bite

_italiannis_restAug 16 - Italianni’s, Greenhills - penne arrabiata (garlic, onions, tomatoes, olives saute in olive oil-looks boring to some but i simply love it!) is my automatic pasta order here but this time i tried seafood pasta (coz i have a free seafood pasta coupon — hahahaha! — u thought i wanna explore this time, huh!)
for the pizza - we had salmon pizza, best seller — but to those who are allergic to seafood -don’t gamble…the outer part of my lips got itchy after ( to think i already overcome my allergy to crabs & other seafoods excludin’ fishes)
i love avocado — so for those who share wid me d love for avocado — u can always sip avocado shake here in Italianni’s (it’s seasonal, though - but it’s not as seasonal here in Italianni’s) mmmm, i wonder where they pick those avocadoes? * think think*

tip: a 20% discount coupon slash off price (total bill) for your next visit is available all the time but sometimes the food attendants aren’t always offerin’ it– but, if u r kinda machika 2 your food attendant — they can give u an application form for a VIP gold card w/c u can not juz use it in Italianni’s but also in Outback & Friday’s but if u have a freecoupon –it’s either or (use ur discount card or d coupon)

* wid Shiela - my bestest girl friend in Multicare (d generic div. of AstraZeneca @ that time - Now, an individual company)

Aug 16 - Beard Papa, Galleria — their cream puff is to die for! i love d ones wid choc chips — order cold (unsweetened) green tea too.  It will serve as your neutralizer.
* snack with  Shie - after dinin’ in Greenhills , we headed Galleria coz by 230 pm ‘m off to my daughter’s school..Shie got to meet Kristine & Melanie - 2 other mommies (my 2 other close friends in school)

Aug 18 - Gloria jeans , Galleria - okay, this time allow me to include a coffee shop since ‘m not a gloria jeans regular customer..d choco mint frapuccino taste really well (in full fairness) - too generic, but ‘m a starbucks kid since thenDsc00179 - it’s not that ‘m addicted to Starbucks - no! it’s juz that it’s everywhere - so accessible & convenient for all types of meeting…for me, Starbucks nowadays is d high end version of Jolibee & Mc do — agree?
So, for my food journal blog - these 3 aren’t included — i have nothin’ more to say ’bout those 3 chains that u guys would love to read& & eager to know — like me, all of u knw it by heart…
*meeting wid darlene

Aug 20 - Take-Out Queen convenient store, Santolan - Pesto Bangus Belly @ Php 120/pack…new in d market — worth tryin’ but i find it expensive . A pack is only half piece of bangus.
*wid dad

Aug 24 - Mr. Choi, Galleria - this resto is full ALL d time — i wonder why * think again* — nothin’ really new & spectacular except that they serve free appetizer (dried fish skin) — okay, i guess  it’s d location…situated near d entrance of Galleria beside Gold’s gym( Holiday Inn side)…d ambience & d meals are not intimidating.
* wid kristine & marge

Aug 24 - Dulcinea, Galleria - I am a dulcinea person (from beverage to chix potato salad to pasta to cold cuts hungarian sausage) tip: you can request the chef (thru ur waiter) to cook it for you right there & then & serve it in ur table — tell d waiter to tell d chef to sautee it wid lots of white onions) — okay, so where i am now? — okay, m a dulcinea person &  i tried their mango cake for d very 1st time but to my dismay it tasted like a bakery cake (oh! i love spanish bread & all but u  know how bakery cakes taste..) — u can’t even finish a slice — so, scrap mango cake fr dulcinea..meanwhile, continue enjoyin’ their food fr churros down d line
* wid kristine & marge (4 our dessert)

TIP: if u  wanna impress somebody ( a gf,wife..a client  etc) order tarta  de madrid.
why? u won’t see it being display in any of their display fridge (all branches). it’s their specialty & in  order for u to have/buy it ..you have to place your order a day or two in advance…..so, d person you will be givin’ that cake –will really feel special/ipmt. in ur life to do such  act.

so, how did i know bout this tarta thing? from my  daddy o! *wink*

Aug 25 - dulcinea, megamall - ice cream stand -i got  pistachio ice cream.. it’s just so-so…though all flavors that we all missed from coney island are available (mint, strawberry, bubble gum, almond, etc)
*wid dad after grocery

Aug 26 - Burgoo, Podium - this time i ordered their promo - spareribs platter , d chix liver wrapped in bacon is kinda addictin’ — we have d usual pasta.. pizza.. porkchop wid mashed potato.

TIP: wid or widout free coupon — ( it’s either you lost d one they gave u durin’ ur last visit ..used it already..expired date..lost it ..whatever d reason) u can always ask for what’s in it for you — okay, here’s their line — okay, ma’am –i’ll ask our mgr (if u dont have wid u d free coupon) & they ALWAYS end up givin’ u  a free  food– juz cross ur finger it’s not buffalo wings again & again — but if they give buffalo wings — better than nothin’ at all.

plus tip: don’t order buffalo wings - u can always have it for free (for an order of 2 main course)

* wid czeskah, Michelle (ysabel’s mom) & ysabel ( czeskah’s best friend - they r actually 6 in their group) after PTC - parent teacher conf

Aug 26 - Landes , Podium -  if u r a chocolate lover - try their dark chocolate cake — a part of u will actually have this guilty feeling coz it’s loaded wid calories — michelle & i shared d single order round cake… we have apple pie  too it’s really good.
* still wid czes, ysabel & michelle (our dessert)

Aug 26 & 27 -  dinner @ Tender Bob’s , greenhills promenade - after spendin’ time wid michelle & ysabel ..czes & i rushed to greenhills to meet wid Mama for Czeskah’s piano lesson3pm.

I highly recommend Tender Bob’s (steaks..ribs..burgers).It’s mala Friday’s - big american servings but prices here are competitive.. i actually can say it’s affordable.

for a start, onion rings costs Php 30 only–yep yep 30 pesos — a dozen of big round onion rings served with tartar sauce..super suliTalaga!! & really yummy..fish fillet @ Php 120   – dat’s 3 pcs of  fish  fillet & ur choice of rice or mashed potato.. .
* 26 - wid Dad Mama & Czeskah / 27 - wid  czes - we came bck for d onion rings *smile*

Aug 28 - Le coeure de france, galleria - Now that they  are in d bandwagon of 50% discount (ok, that’s french baker after 8pm) — their’s is buy one take one — their ( i’d rather say their — ‘m havin’ a hard time spellin’ d store’s name) *giggles* wheat oatmeal loaf & all kinds of croissant are now easy on the pocket — that made me confuse — does it taste really good in d 1st place or it does now since it’s easy on d pocket?!? *juz kiddin’*
wid my kids..my angels

that’s all for now…

i hope i was able to help you on your next resto stop (reSTOp) — *a very big smile*
